Instead of the usual No Refund policy, the following has been reinstated for any registrant:

2011 registrations can be rolled over to 2012 Run Through The Roses. To choose that option, please email Kristen at krisdkul@hotmail.com and let her know if you prefer to roll your registration over or donate it to the Parks and Recreation Department’s scholarship program directly.

This has been an unusual several months of planning and rescheduling due to the April 27 tornadoes and June’s ACSM Black Flag condition heat warnings and we apologize for any inconvenience any of you may have experienced. We are truly disappointed in not getting to see you race this year, but hope you will join us for 2012’s race.

2012 race date: May 5, 2012

For registrants not able to participate that day, we will not be issuing refunds but instead will be donating all race fees to scholarships for youth in need to Madison Youth Recreation Sports, in addition to those scholarships, we will be donating a $$ amount per racer entered in our races to scholarships for youth affected by the tornadoes of April 27 to our sister community of Harvest-Monrovia Recreation Sports. You can still get your race pack and tshirt at a later date if you wish, just email me at krisdkul@hotmail.com to notify me.

Due to the longer timeframe available for training, if you would like to change over from the 5k to the 10k, please email at least by August 10th to krisdkul@hotmail.com, to let me know.

Plan on packet pickup for Friday evening from 5-8pm at Bob Jones High School cafeteria. Follow the signage for available parking and entrance into the building. Our sponsors will have booths and goodies for everyone.  If you are unable to make to packet pickup, please contact me ahead of time to make other arrangements at krisdkul@hotmail.com

This is very unusual to have to change our dates like this and I apologize for any inconvienience it may have caused anyone. I have tried to go above and beyond by offering another race date when we were faced with cancellation due to the tornadoes and am again trying to offer a safer alternative due to the extreme heat. I race direct as a volunteer because I love our City and have a passion for running and the outdoors. You can still register by mail or dropoff of our paper form which you can print from this website or you can go to active.com and register online. Online registration will be open through Friday, September 9, 1 pm cst.

I will send out reminders between now and then. Don’t forget we are collecting new and used sports equipment to match with our scholarship recipients. You can drop me an email at krisdkul@hotmail.com and I will be glad to pick it up in addition to some of the equipment round ups we’ll have in the coming months!

I recently became aware of a wonderful event that will be helping the youth of families who may be experiencing hardships due to the recent economy. The event is the “Run Through the Roses”, which is a 5k and 10k run to be held here in Madison. The organizers and the City of Madison Parks and Recreation Department have teamed up to provide a “Scholarship Fund” to help provide assistance to these kids so they can participate in local sporting leagues and events.

The run will be held May 7th and thanks to the wonderful sponsors all registration fees will go directly to the fund. This is a great opportunity, whether you’re an avid runner or just starting out, to join in the fun and help a local youth be able to play sports.

The Madison Baseball Association’s (MBA) Opening Day Ceremony is set for April 9th at Palmer Park. The MBA, on behalf of the Scholarship Fund, will be setting up a collection box for you to bring your gently used sports equipment to help support this cause. I ask that you please check your closets, garages and sport bags for any equipment you feel you will not be using; both boys and girls. Tennis, soccer, football, any of the sports that you see our kids playing in our parks will be gladly accepted.
